Challenge

How might we make product more user-friendly?
The product team and the client had already conducted user interviews to pinpoint areas for improvement. The main challenge was to how to increase user retention along with new users because users continued to struggle with the core function—finding and converting potential leads.

Approach

Deep-dive into research to reveal opportunities
First thing was to synthesize the gatherings from user interviews so I can get clarity on where to priotrize first.
Synthesis
  • We learned that users really need bulk edit in pipeline, dashboard view for automation, managing deals at individual level rather than stage level and many more changes
  • After observing this insights, client also wanted to re-design the whole product along with other improvements.
As I got to know user pain points and clients requirements, my next goal was to understand the old flow and I did found many usability issues along the way.

Design

Make designs more user-friendly
Analyzing old designs, I noticed that they didn't set up a proper design system so first task was to set up a design system which follows consistency, brand guidelines. We already established a design system to follow for all projects so I just used that and make changes according to brand guidelines.

Outcome

Re-design which made client eager to push in production
As we followed Agile process throughout the company, I was required to show re-designs during each sprint to client. At the end of redesign, client was very happy about the designs which became possible due to my teams and manager's support.

Reflection

Trust the process
Design is a iterative process so it takes time, we don't need to rush it. Also, not to get overwhelmed by big projects as a lead designer. By focusing on one thing at a time really helps in maintaining the composure and confidence to move forward.
