i earn !t: Chore App

During my initial days as a designer at AGIL f(x), I was assigned a project focused on developing a chore management app designed to teach children the value of hard work. The goal was to create a fun and engaging interface that would appeal to young users while reinforcing positive habits.

Challenge

How might we make app colorful & funky for children to use?
As the user flow was already defined by the CEO, my task was to start iterating keeping in mind about our target user who were parent's and their child. As things were already established, I researched on how other apps are doing it, analyzing their art-style, features and all.

Then I came up with few low-fi screens for parents flow which were approved by my manager and later did wireframes for child’s flow.

Design

Bright, Lively, Jolly
I translated the low-fi designs into high-fidelity screens, enabling parents to track chore progress and approve or reject product requests from their child.
Next, I focused on the child's flow, ensuring the app was engaging for them as the primary users. To achieve a funky, colorful look, I incorporated kid-style illustrations and expressive design elements. Along the way, I made tweaks and refinements to enhance the overall experience.

Outcome

A successful MVP that leads to engagement
The final outcome exceeded my expectations. The CEO was highly satisfied with the designs, as designs perfectly captured the colorful and lively aesthetic he envisioned.

Reflection

Iteration is key to design
Designing this app involved several moments where I wished for more time to refine and perfect the details. The process was highly iterative, requiring 2-3 rounds of refinement to arrive at the final design, which was well-received by both the CEO and the product manager. Although we didn’t have the opportunity to launch it, the experience provided valuable insights into the significance of iteration and effective team collaboration.
